07.27.12 | METRI D’ARTE TEATRO LA FENICE

Arte contemporanea a Teatro is a project that has been curated by Francesca Pasini since 2004, drawing on the collaboration between the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa and the Fenice Opera House of Venice. This new edition, part of the festival entitled Lo spirito della musica di Venezia (to be held between 19th July and 3rd  August 2012), opens with Fenix, a show in which dance and visual arts go hand in hand, as requested specifically by the Fenice Opera House of the Bevilacqua Foundation.

Fenix is created by the Italian artist Stefano Arienti and the Swiss dancer/choreographer Foofwa d’Imobilité. Arte contemporanea a Teatro calls for the production of a video by a contemporary artist to be projected onto the safety curtain of the Fenice Opera House as a solo show by the same artist is held in one of the exhibition venues of the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa. The screening, produced especially for each artist, takes place in the hour preceding the start of the opera, while the audience enters the theatre. The auditorium is thus briefly transformed into an exhibition venue itself.

All the stage costumes have been produced using the fabrics of the collection Miroglio Textile Metri d’Arte Ritagli di Natura.
